In 2010 Consumer Electronics Show saw new entry-level HD camcorders announced by Sony: the HDR-XR150. These new Handycam models will replace last year's XR100 camcorders, offering HD video with a compact form factor and low price.
The new models borrow heavily from last year's lineup, adding just a handful of new technologies that Sony is introducing to its 2010 Handycams. All 100-series camcorders will come equipped with a 2.5mm 25x optical zoom lens.
These entry-level models do not have the six-blade G lens that was introduced to Sony's mid-range and high-end models late last year. The sensor is very similar-a 1/4-inch CMOS with an effective pixel count of 1,350,000-but features Sony's new Exmor R back illumination technology, designed to improve low light performance.
The HDR-XR150 will also enjoy Sony's new Intelligent Auto technologies, SteadyShot with Active mode, and a non-native 60p output alternative. Like last year's entry-level models, the three new camcorders will have the standard 2.7-inch LCD touchscreen (instead of the 3.5-inch screen on Sony's flagship camcorders) and are constructed with an extremely compact form factor, weighing just 350g.

HDD HDR-XR150
A built-in 120GB hard disk drive can record and store up to 50 hours of high definition video footage (HD LP mode), or up to 30 hours of standard definition footage (SD HQ mode). In addition, "HDD Smart Protection" gives you peace of mind by helping to prevent any recorded video and images from being lost if the camcorder is accidentally dropped.
The HDR-XR150 will store your memories in a whole new way with the ability to copy videos from your camcorder directly to an external hard disk drive (sold separately), all without a computer.
